heard you're new in town, want someone to show you around?

A g-chat snippet:

Rahul: friday was so bootleg. our friend fell on his face adn busted his lip open and was bleeding everywhere
and we thought he had a concussion so we took him to the ER
it was a hot mess
me: omgggggg
Rahul: straight guys are so dumb
they really are, they are always doing extremely dangerous things for no good reason
Can't wait to see my bunny again. Check out his blog: it's design orientated since he's studying industrial design.

I'm really obsessed with these boots - actually with the Stella McCartney FW08 shoe collection. But finding a way to wear over the knee boots without appearing to be a lady of the night is more challenging than I thought. Attaching metal plates to the shoes are genius. I want to get mine engraved.

these streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you

I took a trip to New York City a few weeks ago. I don't have a lot of photos because I focused more on having a vacation and living in the moment rather than document it. The few photos that I do have are a bit more personal, and I don't know how comfortable the subjects would be with being on the blog, so I'm going to refrain from posting them.

I stayed at The Standard hotel for the very brief trip and really enjoyed my stay. I'm pretty sure all employees had to pass a hot or not test, because all the staff (especially the doormen) were gorgeous. The clientele wasn't too shabby either. I got onto the elevator with a very cute Danish man on Sunday morning, which was just my luck because I was nursing a hangover and probably smelled like booze and perfume.

I want your leather studded kiss in the sand

I'm loving the weekend weather lately. Saturdays with a sunny forecast are best for brunches with the best friend and then spending the rest of the day lounging at a cafe with a good book. I'm slowly making my way through D.H. Lawrence's "Lady Chatterley's Lover," upon recommendation by one of my favorite literary demons (Tom). There's so much that's good about it, but I can't help focusing on how much I hate euphemisms for certain reproductive organs that belong to a man - words like length, member, etc. I also spend a lot of time trying to hide the cover of the book because it's got a painting of the back of a naked lady, lounging on a fainting couch. Yeah, it was a lot of fun trying to ignore the curious glances while riding the 4 (which was making local stops for the weekend, as reiterated by the voice on the crackling PA) last weekend (in NYC for those who didn't get the reference).

I keep having strange run-ins with authority while intoxicated. The last time it was firemen; this time it was a police officer, who asked me with flabbergast why I scaled a chain link fence when I could have just opened the gate. There's only one thing to do in such situations: shrug.

Quote, Unquote

“Sometimes I’ve dialed the wrong telephone number, and the people say, ‘You know, you sound like Karl Lagerfeld!’”

- Karl Lagerfeld on the uniqueness of his accent

I'm going away for the weekend for a much needed vacation. See you in The City.
