Since I live in the outer boroughs of Atlanta, I have a desperate need to find outfits that can seamlessly transition from day to night. What complicates the matter further is that I work in a windowless ice box while temperatures outside hover somewhere between 90-100*F. My secret to survival? Layering. That, and a trunk full of shoes.
If you weren't aware, I'm a fan of jackets. White jackets, black jackets, tweed jackets, jackets with floral print, canvas jackets... I've been on the hunt for a good summer jacket, so when I saw this linen jacket on Swaychic, I jumped at it. I love the collarless, cropped fit, which makes it easy to throw this on over whatever I have regardless of whether it's casual or business.

For an after work engagement like date night (or pounding the local happy hour to forget how alone you are), I'd prefer to dress it down a bit with a canvas jacket. If you want to go extra casual, you could throw on a pair of Converse and call it a day. For date night, accessorize with a few more rings and a bracelet and top it all off with a neutral clutch. I like to wear this scarf to thwart the vampires seeking to suck my blood. Except for Alexander Skarsgard. You can do whatever you want.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I really enjoy reading your blog. Keep it coming, lady. By the way, love the bags and the shoes. It's pretty tough to dress a 9 to 5 job and then dress for going out immediately out afterwards in Atlanta. Great post. Haha, but I must say, Alcide > Eric.

I'm jealous you can actually wear jackets- I'm currently in the process of acclimatizing myself in HK so as to deceive my mind and body that wearing a blazer in +30c in 100% humidity is fine and dandy. I'm a fan of your jackets as well as your supposedly closet full of shoes. :P
ReplyDeleteJackets are my favourite, I'm always hunting them down and convincing my mum that they're summer-appropriate. Whatever that means. I like how both these outfits and how it really comes down to the jacket as the transition (and what is this trunk full of shoes, that sounds lovely.) Hope you've had a good weekend (:
ReplyDeleteLove the both looks :)
