your denim defines you

What's everyone's thoughts on low rise jeans? I've suddenly discovered that I can no longer wear them without feeling as if I've forgotten to wear clothing that covers some of the crucial parts of my body. They say that as you get older, everything starts to get lower. Well, not your jeans. Or your underwear. I can testify to that. Coverage is key, if not everything.

  3. So true! In my teens I didn't even question the low-rise, but now it feels like I'm always hiking them up if I wear low-rise. Plus, there's something kinda classy about super-tight high-rise pants... causes one to embrace the curves.

  5. Ohmygod, I'm right there with you. I used to buy the lowest rise jeans possible (back when 7 for all Mankind was still new, and True Religion was actually an acceptable brand of denim), but now I gravitate toward a mid- or even high-rise style, which I think is actually more flattering on most bodies. If we get past the trend element of denim, I think that a straight to slim leg with a mid rise is truly the perfect pair. Leave the low-rise for the teeny-boppers (or maybe those misguided college students who want to show off their new tramp stamps). What you've got going on with these J Brands is exactly right :) xx

  6. I hate low rise jeans--mostly because people who wear them don't know how to wear them. I don't need to see underwear or other unmentionables. I say if you're not a pop star on dancing on stage, lip-syncing to some catchy tune, low rise jeans are a no=no.

  9. Great look for you! Love denim and your vest is so chic! I agree, the low rise jeans don't always work. I feel as if they are constantly heading south and worry my undies will show. Not as flattering as they used to be!

  10. I used to wear HUSH diesel that were so low you couldn't even sit in them. Now I only buy high rise things, wear high shorts, skirts and stretchy leggins. It's the peculiar specifics of getting old. Very glad you will be joining Sam and I on the capsule wardrobe challenge! Good luck :)

  11. I wish I had your legs- the Balenciaga boots look SO GOOD on you with those jeans. I prefer midrise because of the following:
    1. Lowrise: risk of showing butt crack especially if you have a long torso like me and tops cut kinda short.
    2. Highrise: gets in the way of stomach expansion when eating hence indigestion.
