1. power casual

I'm getting things done this week.

I spent a large chunk of the weekend watching the Euro 2012 Championships and griping to anyone who would listen to the point (or lack thereof) of baby showers. A large part of me hates these societal rituals (i.e. baby showers, wedding showers, bachelorette parties) for the same reasons Carrie cited in "A Woman's Right to Shoes": if I don't follow these standards, society will never celebrate my life choices... which is mostly to become a designer bag lady and invest all the money I'd spend on a wedding on achieving the ultimate shoe collection.

But honestly, can someone please explain to me why all the games played at these events are so shitty? The "Guess the Chocolate 'Poop' in the Diaper" game is sickening, and variations on the "guess the baby's features" concept is a snore. I swear to god, if I have to make another stupid scrapbook, I'm going to cut someone. Who looks at those things? Lillie made me many years ago, and I've looked at it once - when she gave it to me. (Sorry, L.)

I guess I'm just not the cupcake-loving, pastel color obsessed, Pinterest user I'm expected to be.

Here's a tribute to all the power women out there. Join me in raising a glass: to our right to blowing our disposable income on booze, clothes, and whatever else catches our fancy!

  2. Haha! This made me laugh, a lot! I'm exactly the same, I've never been the maternal type & fully intend to have a great time, build a career & generally blow my money on very selfish things for quite a while yet before I even consider any of those 'normal' things like marriage or kids, if I ever do. All my friends are at the stage currently tho, so I also have endless baby showers/christenings/weddings .etc to go to, such a bore!

  3. hey thanks for commenting. the caviar is a step before the top coat. you pour the tiny beads on right after your first nail polish application so they stick to your nails.

    Cute outfit btw.

    Great blog and photos!
I am a new follower. Hope you'll follow back and keep in touch.

PS. Don't forget to enter my $100 Miinto.com giveaway.

  4. Lol have you seen this? http://www.collegehumor.com/video/6778520/the-fall-of-pinterest
Luckily I'm not in that stage where all my friends are ballooning with kids nor do I know what it feels like to go to a baby shower. But personally I'm not gaga about children and at this moment I'd love to steal every inch of your outfit. This is such an amazing combo paired with a sullen expression. Bahaha.

FYI my cousin posted a photo on Facebook of my nephew's poop in a diaper. IT was really gross and I had no choice but to look at it thanks to Facebook Feed. T-T

  5. Is it strange that I completely agree with you... but I'm married and have a toddler of my own? I definitely miss the freedom of my single, childless days, for sure! And pinterest... I have yet to join and don't see the draw.
