yes, i wore that

A few friends and I discussed the fashion choices of our past (in particular, fashion choices of middle school). We were lucky enough to come of age during the skateboarder/surfer look of the mid 90s, which meant that we were either street or dressed like Cher from "Clueless." Jnco jeans, Mossimo (when it was expensive), logo wear like Tommy Hilfiger/Nautica/Polo... and if you wore different brands mixed together, you were called a perpetrator. Thank God those days are behind us.

I used to date guys who had bowl cuts. And I thought they were really hot.

Yes, I used to be a hot mess. Please share your middle school mistakes so I can have a good laugh. hahaha

  1. Have fallen in love with your site. Want that purse dreadfully. Have linked you. (Sorry for the telegraph-esque response, I'm quite smitten).

As for middle school days, I think my biggest 'ick' phase was when I tried goth-punk on for size (jelly bracelets and spikey rubber collars enough to make you puke).

  2. Haha -- oh man. The mistakes we made when we were in middle school. I think the worst part of my fashion was constantly wearing Roxy t-shirts. LOL.

  3. I was pretty much a 'surfer' girl - wearing only roxy & stussy. Definitely was a victim of those Jnco jeans too. Doc marts & bermudas & the ugliest spectacles, that was me!

  4. ah geez, those were the days. I'm 26 now, so was in high school in the late 90's in suburban Texas. I definitely had a skater look- JNCO's anyone? Vans, airwalks, cute skater boys with what I call "penis" haircuts! (think about it)

My fashion icon before then even was Liv Tyler in Empire Records with her plaid skirt and combat boots! Admittedly I haven't lost the look of mini's and Docs!

  5. those pvc leggings look so good on you. Middle school was such an awkward stage for me. I wore A LOT of pacsun roxy quiksilver stuff. I've never surfed in my life. Yeah.

  8. Do you remember jellies?! Lauren and I both had a pair of clear, heeled jellies in middle school. We though we were soooo cool.

Love your outfit and Barbie's take on the Chanel quilted bag!

  10. i have too many to name. in middle school it was oversized tshirts with carpenter jeans and plaid shirts. in high school it was massive bell-bottomed jeans and harry potteresque glasses. and then there was that year when i wore nothing but banana republic. ewwww.

  12. God, I remember the jellies. I had a collection. My favorites were the pink ones with high heels. I thought I was sooo gangstarrrrr.

    eeps - carpenters. Wow. hahaha
And I had a Banana Republic phase in h.s., too. My friend once told me that I dressed like a 30-year-old. At least I wasn't paying $40 for a "vintage" T-shirt. boo yah.

  13. I remember wearing lots Roxy, Bongo shorts, platform slippers (flip flops). Don't condone the first two, but those platform slippers, especially the foamy looking ones, needs to take a break. I think they'll always be people wearing them here though, since people live in slippers and the platform instantly makes it dressier!

  14. Love the wristwear, and those shoes and bag are so fantastic! Back in my younger days I wore a lot of dark corduroy and plaid shirts...nothing too bad :)
